Illustrated is the “Chocolate Boston”, which is a chocolate milkshake with chocolate soft serve ice cream topped with chocolate sauce. The “Boston” can be had with other flavours but it is always milkshake plus soft serve plus sauce. Eaten with a spoon and a straw, it is apparently known only to Red’s of South Portland and their customers but we stand to be corrected.
I do not love chocolate but this actually inched me a little towards that affliction. I ate it so fast I got an ice cream chest ache.

Jeez, that looks good. I need one now. As a Yank (not the Bronx variety!), I could snottily say, “Of course it’s only found in America,” but then there are Canada’s WBC win over the U.S., Don Cherry and, of course, game, set and match, Canada – George W. Bush.
Besides, I love coming up to Kingston whenever possible, it’s a short pop from here in the ‘burbs of Syracuse. The downtown stores there are eclectic and cool, the restos are great (I love Amadeus), Tim’s kicks the ever-loving crap out of Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Creme, and….this is big……the Loblaw’s out by Toys (backwards R) Us has the only clean men’s room I’ve ever seen in a grocery store.
I detect a food theme…..I also love Rudy’s, by the way.
Plus, I’d rather watch college football as it was meant to be played, at Queen’s (the rules are better too), rather than the mega-productions that even weak-ass SU puts on. As a Canadian friend of mine once said, “American college football is based on the old adage, ‘If people get sick of the Christians and the Lions, just throw in more lions.'”

I think Canadian football is a better game played by poorer players, that’s all. No, you did not go too far. We have great Syracuse patience and besides…you have Middles Ages and Dino BBQ so why wouldn’t we be the jealous ones.

Yeah, the first time we went to Dino I wanted the Big-Ass Pulled Pork Sandwich, and I asked the waitress for “…that…pulled pork…..” to which she said, “That’s OK. You can swear!” “Well, dammit then, bring it on, and quick!”
Middle Ages is OK. My tastes go more toward the stronger Canadian brews, whether crafts or the biggies (I love Brador, etc.).
Time was when the CFL wasn’t that far behind the NFL and had the kick-ass (and kick-a-point!) rules to boot. I still love the kick-ass rules, and seeing a game at Richardson or my favorite, McGill, just makes it that much better.
I thought people went a little too nuts about SU hoops. They won the Big East with a huge show of guts, but those league tournaments are many times just about meaningless with the NCAAs coming up. I mean, UConn, Villanova, Georgetown all went out early…big deal, they had their berths in the Big Dance already. SU got its berth when it beat UConn, but was still pooped, and G-Mac’s groin ripped up (OOOWWWWWWW,) by the time Thursday came around. Result, C-Ya next year.
Now it’s lacrosse (SU is a mighty 1-3 so far) until the minor league season starts early next month.

Grew up on Red’s, way back when it was just the Tasty Freeze. My must have: a black and white sundae. Half and Half soft serve topped with 1/2 hot fudge, 1/2 marshmallow sauce…don’t forget the whipped cream and cherry.
Remember the pizzas at the Mardigan’s Hillside Red & White just a toss up the street?

I had one last night. Again amazing. I do not crave chocolate but when you have a chocolate milkshake with chocolate soft serve in it covered with chocolate sauce, that I crave.

They serve Boston Shakes at the Big Sky Drive Up in Missoula, Montana, too!
I like chocolate topped by a vanilla with strawberry sauce sundae!
